Welcome to the New Beacon Dispatch!

Actually, it took about five minutes to fix the display problem. There just needed to be a change made to two of the pages and those changes were well documented on the Master Plan (fitting name!) web site.

So, here it is, the new Beacon Dispatch web site. A precursor, we hope, to a new print edition of the same.

Please note that there are several new features on this site. You can easily email posts to your friends using the convenient link at the top of the page and each article shows authorship which should make Lisa happy. (Are ya happy Lisa? We really want to know!)

Please let us know what you think of the new site!

  4. A fresh, clean look. Congrats. One suggestion: Let the townsfolk know! I only discovered it had changed when Googling for Beacon election stories and came to one of the pieces on this site.

I do hope you bring back the print edition. We all miss it. If/when discussions start again, please let me know. I’d be happy to help — editorial strategy/development, editing, writing, etc.

  5. I had to print out each page frame to get the Artisan coupon – any possibility something can be done to make that easier ? I use Firefox, not IE, so am wondering if it is an unintentional IE bias.

  6. Local news sites like yours are necessary to keep traditional media on its toes. I’m in the same racket in Pittsburgh and it’s a struggle. I thank my lucky stars for our volunteer reporters.

I’m thrilled to be able to read insightful news about my native Beacon again.

  7. Great site. Already you have made me nostalgic for trees I never saw, hungry for the resurrection of the Clash, and reminded me to go vote. Thanks!

  8. Hi Jeff,
I love the new look–and I’m not alone.
Don’t know if this is down your alley, but John Mendelssohn, who burst onto the pop scene in the late 60s writing for Rolling Stone, is a Beacon resident and proud father of a brand new CD, Sorry We’re Open. Author of Kinks Kronicles and other books, he’s currently one of the more outrageous bloggers writing today ((www.johnmendelsohn.com). I hope you think an interview with this inscrutably multi-talent will prove compelling grist for your readers. To hear John’s new music please visit:

A couple of YouTube videos may also get you in the mood:

Please let me know if we can get you together with John.
